| Date of Easter

![]() | ![]() The date of Easter is defined as the first Sunday after Passover - where Passover is calculated using the old method, changed in about 325 AD. This means it is the first Sunday, after the first full moon, after the March equinox (although nowadays, March 21st is used instead of the equinox).

![]() Because of the way it is defined, Easter Sunday moves around the calendar in an apparently erratic way. However, its method of computation is surprisingly simple. Note that in 1752, the British Empire skipped 11 days in their calendar to bring it into line with the Gregorian calendar. Thus, earlier dates in the British calendar can not be calculated here. | ||||||||||
