Black body emission max diagram
calc
Wien's displacement law is a simple equation that calculates the emission maximum of a perfect black body at a given temperature. This calc gives either the wavelength from the temperature, or the temperature from the wavelength.
Temp. a
Emission peak b

Emission peak at temp. a
Temp. at emission peak b

notes
Fill in either the "temperature a" or the "emission maximum b". The calc will then give the related temperature or wavelength, as appropriate.
Black body radiation is the phenomenon that makes things glow "red hot", and get yellower as they heat up more. As an example of use, monitor color profiles include a "color temperature" setting, which relates the color balance of the monitor to the emission curve of a black body at that temperature. For these temperatures (and visible light), wavelengths in the nm range are used.
