What is 20/20 vision? Diopters to 20/20 vision conversion

A 20/20 vision means you can clearly see an object standing 20 feet away from you. This score describes a "normal" vision instead of a "perfect" one and is a measure of visual acuity.

In this sense, a 20/40 vision would mean that you need to be 20 feet away from an object in order to see it, whereas people with "normal" vision would see this object in detail from 40 feet away.

The prescription lenses are rated using diopters which is a measure of the optical power of a lens. You can check the relation between diopters and your vision score below:

How to use our 20/20 vision for 2020 calculator

As we said, our vision calculator can give you tips on improving your eyesight from a few lifestyle changes!

First, you need to fill in some information about your lifestyle and diet for the calculator to output any results. Let us walk you through each step of using this tool:

  1. Screen time. Input the amount of hours you spent each day looking at screens (computer, smartphone, television).
  2. Activity. Fill in the number of hours you dedicate to each activity per week.
  3. Diet. Information about your weekly food habit. Can diet affect your vision? The answer is yes. Studies show that a Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) is linked to healthy eyes. Our calculator compares this diet with yours to estimate a result.
  4. Smoking. Paired with many other health problems, any history of smoking increases the risk of vision impairment.

After completing these sections, a new one will appear at the bottom with a list of health tips and changes you can implement to your lifestyle to reduce the risk of vision impairment. Give it a try!

Based on your score, you lead a healthy lifestyle, which does not increase the risk of vision impairment.
Example: We define vision impairment in terms of visual acuity , e.g. 20/40. An eyesight of 20/40 means that you need to be 2 meters from a road sign to see it, instead of the usual 4 meters.
Health tips 👀
A balanced diet, regular exercise and not smoking are the keys to health, part of which is good vision.
✔️ Screen time - it's good that you don't spend too much time in front of digital screens. Take care of your eyes with this simple trick:
➡️ Follow the 20-20-20 rule; every 20 minutes, take 20 seconds to look at something that is 20 feet away.
✔️ Activity - you're doing well, but there are some things you could improve:
➡️ Nice, you regularly go hiking, cycling, or even for a long stroll🚲. It doesn't have to be the Tour de France, but try to make them a bit longer than your current 2 hours per week.
➡️ Cardio and team sports every week must feel sooo good 😄 It'd be even better if it was more than 2 hours in a week.
➡️ Given the result of your household activities , we'd all like to learn your quick clean-up secrets 😍. Still, how about extending it to more than 2 hours a week?
Do you want some more information on the risks?
